What is a Credit Union?
A Credit Union is a member-owned, member-controlled, not-for-profit cooperative financial institution formed to permit groups of people to save, borrow, and obtain related financial services and to participate in its management. Member ownership and control are what make credit unions unique. Credit Unions offer savings that typically pay higher dividends (interest) than most other financial institutions.
Our Credit Union started with just 10 members in 1936. And, once you're a member of Nassau Financial, you're always a member, even after retirement or relocation.
Who Can Join?
The Nassau Financial Federal Credit Union serves all those who live, work, worship, attend school or volunteer in Nassau County, New York, as well as members of their immediate family or household. For the purposes of this definition, immediate family includes stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings and adoptive relationships. Household is defined as persons living in the same residence maintaining a single economic unit. If you satisfy any one of the preceding requirements you are eligible for membership in the Credit Union. Today, Nassau Financial Federal Credit Union provides high quality, competitively priced consumer financial services to more than 27,000 members.

All member deposits are federally insured, in the aggregate, up to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) a U. S. government agency, through a government-backed federal insurance fund known as the National Credit Union Shared Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) and are backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.
Joint member accounts are insured separately from individual accounts up to a maximum of $250,000. IRAs receive separate $250,000 insurance coverage.
